Charlottetown Golf PEI


Prince Edward Island is very well known as a Canadian golfing destination and a great place to start, or even spend your whole stay is in the capital city of Charlottetown. There are 32 golf courses within 45 minutes of Charlottetown, and ten of those are within the top 100 of all of Canada. The Canadian Golf Academy is only 5 minutes from Charlottetown’s downtown core, and is a great place to start your PEI golf adventure. As Canada’s largest golf learning facility, located at the Golf Digest’s four star Fox Meadow Golf & Country Club you can sign up for private lessons or get in on one of the golf programs.

The top golf courses, such as The Links at Crowbush Cove and Brudenell River, are a quick drive from Charlottetown so you always have your choice once you’re here. The Belvedere Golf and Country Club is a 100 year old semi-private golf course home to LPGA star Lori Kane and in four hours you can master this Par 72, 18 hole course.

Avondale Golf Course

Avondale is 20 minutes from Charlottetown and offers great service and an excellent course. The 6,908 yard course combines links and woodland and is great for all skill levels. Take some suggestions from CPGA pro David Bowlan and head to the clubhouse afterwards to enjoy lunch, dinner or even a quick appy.

Green Fees: $36-$48 + Taxes.

 

Belfast Highland Greens

Also 20 minutes from Charlottetown is Belfast Highland Greens, a 3,300 yard course which takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete. The course has four Par 5’s and an onsite CPGA pro Jeff Hughes. Alongside the course is also a 77 site campground, swimming pools, nature trail and playgrounds so you can camp close to the greens.

Belvedere River Golf Course

This 18 hole Graham Cooke renovated course is situated on 120 acres within the city limits of Charlottetown. Ladies Professional Golf Tour professional Lorie Kane is also available to help you out on course.

Countryview Golf Club

“One of the best kept golf secrets on Prince Edward Island.” Countryview is located 15 minutes outside of Charlottetown and the course is known for have some of the best greens on the Island. The course is 9 holes, par 36 and 3310 yards and preferred rates are given to those who would like to play 18 holes.

Dundarave Golf Course-Designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry

Host of the 2006 Legends of Golf, featuring Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson, this championship course features some of the most memorable bunkering patterns out there. The beauty of PEI is underlined by red sandstone, expansive fairways and the course is surrounded by beautiful pine trees and the Brudenell River. Golfers will be challenged in this serene setting and the course is located only about 35 minutes from the capital of Charlottetown.

Eagles View Golf

Eagles View is a Jeff Fuller championship designed course located against MacLure’s Pond, only 15 minuted from the Wood Islands Ferry and 30 minutes from Rodd Brudenell River Resort. It’s 9 hole course is a great challenge for all handicaps.

Fox Meadow Golf & Country Club-Designed by Rob Heaslip

Fox Meadow is golfing at its best. Only seven minutes from downtown Charlottetown, this championship course also features fine dining, a lounge and a 200 seat banquet area. Fox Meadow is also home to the Canadian Golf Academy, awarded as the “#1 Teaching Facility in Canada” by SCOREGolf Magazine. Views out to the harbour and natural surroundings are an inspiration to any level of golfer and while extremely challenging is also a lot of fun.

Glasgow Hills Resort and Golf Club-Designed by Les Furber

The course features panoramic views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the River Clyde, and the site also offers a full service restaurant, banquet rooms and a new residential development. Glasgow Hills is also partnered with three other championship courses (all within ten minutes of each other!) as part of Cavendish Beach Golf.

Glen Afton Golf Course-Designed by William G Robinson

Near Charlottown, public beaches and the Confederation Bridge, Glen Afton Golf Course’s seaside situation offers a course designed for all skill levels. For more of a challenge be ready for the Northumberland Strait sea breezes on the back nine. Noted as one of the Best Places to Play by Golf Digest, this course offers definite value and an excellent opportunity to just enjoy a day golfing.

Rollo Bay Greens

This course may be smaller but the views overlooking Northumberland Strait and the Rollo Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. No two holes are alike on this course and when the breeze is coming in it can be quite challenging.

Rustico Resort

Rustico Resort is a true island paradise, and the golf course is no different. The 120 acres overlooking Rustico Bay offers golfers a challenging and scenic 18 hole, par 72 course with the luxury of having a resort attached. Golf green fees are complimentary to resort guests and bring your camera, as you may sight the resident bald eagles, osprey, and great blue herons. The golf course is surrounded by beautiful gardens and water views. Make it a relaxing golf vacation at Rustico Resort.

Seal Cove Golf Course

This 1,452 yard course features both long and short holes and is conveniently located on a campground with a coffee shop, heated swimming pool, mini golf and a lovely sandy beach.

Stanhope Golf & Country Club-Designed by Robbie Robinson

Stanhope Golf & Country Club is ideally located just outside of Chartlottetown, overlooking Covehead Bay in the heart of the “Beaches” tourism area. Since 1970 this course will test your skills while providing all the excitement of being in one of the best places on the Island. CPGA Professional Shannon Grinton is available on site to help you out on the green and a visit to the clubhouse will provide a well deserved refreshment and snack afterwards.

The Callaway Golf Divine Nine

Located on Rte. 3, west of Georgetown at the Brudenell River Resort, the Divine Nine is a 9 hole, par 30 course designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry. The course is within walking distance from the Rodd Brudenell Resort and the Brudenell River Provincial Park and features bent grass tees, fairways and greens.

Green Fees: $12-$20 + Taxes.

 

The Links at Crowbush Cove-Designed by Thomas McBroom

Golf Digest’s Best New Course (1994)is an unforgettable golfing experience. With picturesque sand dunes, rolling fairways, water features and a challenging course to boot, Crowbush Cove is a must visit. Crowbush Cove was home to the 1998 Export “A” Skins game featuring John Daly, Fred Couples, Mark O’Meara and Mike Weir and has been host to many competitions and has received many awards such as SCOREGolf’s #8 ranked course in Canada.

Vista Bay Golf Course & Chalets

Ten minutes east of Charlottetown is Vista Bay Golf Course, a nine hole, 2,800 yard, par 34 course with 70 acres of challenging terrain. The most notable hole is the 8th, a par 5 on elevated green and the views over Northumberland Strait are magnificent.
