One of the great stories of PEI comes from a little red headed free spirit named Anne. As a fictional character of bestselling author Lucy Maud Montgomery’s novel Anne of Green Gables, this enchanting girl brought inspiration to young people everywhere.

While you’re in PEI be sure to visit the places that inspired the original novel and its continuous followings. Be sure to visit PEI National Park to see Green Gables itself, and tour through Lover’s Lane and the Haunted Wood. A visit to Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Cavendish Homestead and the Anne of Green Gables Museum are also a must, for fans and visitors to the Island alike.

A quarter mile east of Green Gables is this Canadian National Historic Site, the home of the author herself. While the actual home no longer remains you can explore the fields, lanes and gardens that surrounded the original homestead.

Travel back a hundred years in this story book village. Check out a musical or theatre performance, and meet all the characters from Anne of Green Gables.

The Birthplace of L.M. Montgomery.

At the intersection of Route 6 and Route 20 fans can find the original home of the famous PEI author in New London (known as Clifton in Montgomery’s time). See a replica of her wedding dress and the room she grew up in.

Visit the beautiful gardens or go on Matthew’s Carriage Ride. The 110 acre property has a ton of great things to see including Montgomery’s hand colored and developed photographs. The Lucy Maud Montgomery Heritage Museum is also located here.
